E. Rutland Fatal 2nd Alarm Fire (Milford, CT) 1/25/22

MILFORD, CT – Just after 7:00pm on January 25, 2022, the Milford Fire Department was dispatched to the area of E. Rutland Rd and Chevelle Pl for a reported structure fire with multiple calls coming in. Once on scene, first-due companies found a 1 1/2-story cape on E. Rutland with heavy fire showing from the A-side. During operations, firefighters were pulled out of the structure due to heavy fire involvement and had to switch to a defensive stance. Unfortunately, one victim was found deceased during a search after crews were able to go interior. The Milford Fire Marshal along with the Connecticut State Police Fire Marshal will be completing the investigation.

Waterford Ln. Fire (Shelton, CT) 1/14/21 SHELTON, CT – At approximately 12:44pm on January 14, 2021, the Shelton Fire Department was dispatched to Waterford Lane for a reported kitchen fire.  First units on scene found heavy fire showing from two windows on the D-side of a wood frame private dwelling.  All occupants and pets were reported out of the structure safely before FD arrival and an interior attack was commenced.  Conditions deteriorated quickly as the fire spread rapidly throughout the home and all members were ordered out of the structure for a defensive attack.  A mayday was called during overhaul operations when two firefighters broke through the fire ravished second floor.  Neither were injured and the mayday was quickly cleared.

Olive St. 2nd Alarm Fire (Bridgeport, CT) 5/30/21 
BRIDGEPORT, CT – Shortly before 6:30pm on May 30, 2021, the Bridgeport Fire Department received multiple calls for a fire at 370 Olive St.  First companies on scene found a large, 4-story, wood-frame residence with heavy fire showing on all four floors at the rear porches.  A second alarm was immediately called.  After an aggressive offensive attack, members were eventually pulled from the structure as the fire took hold of the attic and operations turned defensive.  In all, eight families were displaced, but there were no reported injuries at the time of this writing.

WATERBURY, CT – At approximately 9:30am February 25, 2021, the Waterbury Fire Department was dispatched to Albert Bros Inc. for a report of a large fire. Units arriving on scene at 225 E. Aurora Street found heavy fire in a scrap yard. The thick black column could be seen for miles. The Connecticut National Guard Civil Support Team responded to the fire along with DEEP due to the need to contain the runoff into the Naugatuck River. Albert Bros is a metal recycling business that has been in Waterbury since 1895.

BRIDGEPORT, CT – At approximately 1:30pm on January 13, 2021, the Bridgeport Fire Department received multiple calls for a reported structure fire at 26 Vine Street. Engine 3 was first due and reported heavy fire showing from the 1st floor B-side of a 2 1/2-story, wood frame, extending up into the 2nd and 3rd floors. The fire quickly escalated and a 2nd alarm was called approximately 15 mins later. Once the fire started taking control of the entire 3rd floor, the evacuation tones were sounded at approximately 2:10pm. In all, the Red Cross had to assist nine people that were displaced by the fire.

Madison Ave. Fire (Irvington, NJ) 9/27/20
IRVINGTON, NJ – At approximately 1:20am on September 27, 2020, the Irvington Fire Department was dispatched to 148 Madison Avenue for a reported structure fire. First companies on scene found a 2 1/2 story wood frame with heavy fire showing from the top floor. Members searched the occupied home and found that no occupants were trapped or injured. As of the time of this writing the fire remains under investigation.
