2-Alarm fire in Elmwood Park, IL – February 6, 2015 (part 1)

Here are some photos and a video of the 2nd Alarm fire in Elmwood Park, IL (2/6/15). Elmwood Park companies had a report of a machine on fire at 35 Conti Parkway. Once the machine was knocked, interior reported they had fire in the rear that they could not reach with their line and asked for a second line. At the same time smoke conditions worsened and command was notified of an alarm at 36 Conti Parkway, and the first box alarm was struck. Companies eventually went defensive and a second alarm was requested.

Arrived about 15 minutes into this job and was greeted with fire venting from the roof. Companies made the attic and hit the fire from below in pretty short order. Some items of interest … note the positioning of truck 55, some call this beaching … seemed to work very well here. Also note the ground ladder placement covering all sides of the structure. The images of squad 7 are of the same rig used in the show Chicago Fire. The 7 on the door looks like a good tape job to me and makes me think they’re gonna have this rig for a while. An interesting job in a normally very quiet area.

2/25/14 Chicago Working Fire.  Several outside calls reporting a fire at 4030 Adams.  2 story ordinary 25 x 75 fire in the rear.  2 lines.  No water problems but it was bitterly cold out.

1300 block of Cullerton, in Chicago. Still & Box, Level 1 Hazmat, and EMS Plan 1.  Gas explosion.  25 x 70 2 1/2 story frame. Two burn victims,  3 lines & a tower ladder were deployed.
