On December 11th at 8:55 hours, Grand Rapids fire crews were alerted to the report of an apartment fire at the Ridgewood apartments on the city’s SE side. Companies arrived with smoke showing from the eaves, pulled several attack lines and began an aggressive interior attack while other companies preformed searches and opened up.

Due to 55mph+ winds fueling the fire, it quickly spread through the void spaces, walls, and attic causing heavy heat and rapidly deteriorating fire conditions. Crews transitioned to a defensive posture and fought the fire with several hand lines and master streams. Three firefighters were injured and are expected to be ok.

Waterford Ln. Fire (Shelton, CT) 1/14/21 SHELTON, CT – At approximately 12:44pm on January 14, 2021, the Shelton Fire Department was dispatched to Waterford Lane for a reported kitchen fire.  First units on scene found heavy fire showing from two windows on the D-side of a wood frame private dwelling.  All occupants and pets were reported out of the structure safely before FD arrival and an interior attack was commenced.  Conditions deteriorated quickly as the fire spread rapidly throughout the home and all members were ordered out of the structure for a defensive attack.  A mayday was called during overhaul operations when two firefighters broke through the fire ravished second floor.  Neither were injured and the mayday was quickly cleared.

Around 2300 hrs on 11/14/21, we caught a box in the 2nd Battalion @ 6414 Heyden X Ann Arbor Trail on the far southwest side of the city. Engine 55 reported a dwelling going throughout on their arrival. We made it there after the initial knockdown, but the Chief was just pulling companies out. The fire was running through the attic and sounded like the interior crews were having trouble gaining access to it. Chief 2 pulled everyone out, they regrouped and made another push, as well as an exterior line into the attic window on the front of the house.

Companies on the box were as follows: Engines 55, 57, and 34, Ladder 27, Squad 1, Chief 2, and DEMS.
