Around 2300 hrs on 11/14/21, we caught a box in the 2nd Battalion @ 6414 Heyden X Ann Arbor Trail on the far southwest side of the city. Engine 55 reported a dwelling going throughout on their arrival. We made it there after the initial knockdown, but the Chief was just pulling companies out. The fire was running through the attic and sounded like the interior crews were having trouble gaining access to it. Chief 2 pulled everyone out, they regrouped and made another push, as well as an exterior line into the attic window on the front of the house.
Companies on the box were as follows: Engines 55, 57, and 34, Ladder 27, Squad 1, Chief 2, and DEMS.

Here are some shots from a fire the other day in Detroit in the 9th Battalion @ Hazelridge and Mac Crary.
Companies were sent for a commercial box in southwest on 4/28/19. Engine 27 stretched on a commercial building at Vernor X Junction. Chief 7 reported they were taking a defensive posture and requested a platform. They had a 2-sty, 100×200, occupied Dollar Store going through the roof. At the height of the fire, it had extended to a 2-sty taxpayer and ended up burning through that roof. In total, three aerial master streams and numerous landlines were used to bring the fire under control.
A total rundown of the companies @ the 2nd Alarm at 5656 W Vernor were as follows:
Engines 27, 29, 33, 34
Ladders 8, 13
Squads 2, 4
Chiefs 5, 7
2nd Alarm Assignment
Engines 17, 42, 48
Ladders 7, 17, 20
Chief 203
During a last minute trip up to Detroit recently, we made it to a few jobs. Started the trip off by chasing a header on the westside to find an auto going in a vacant lot. After calling 911 and being on hold for some minutes, we finally got a call taker who then dispatched E42. This was at Monica X Westfield on 3/9.
This bunch of photos is from a fire in the 4th Battalion @ Mansfield X Kendall on 3/11/19 in Detroit. Crews had a tough time bringing the fire under control at this one. Big joint, about 50’x75′ with a gambrel roof.
