Occupants that are currently renting the property at 24 Rolling Hills Drive, in Barrington Hills, IL were burning leaves Saturday afternoon (4/18/15) when the fire communicated to a tree before sending embers onto the house. The wind then caused the fire to spread rapidly. A 2nd Alarm was requested on arrival of Barrington & Countryside FPD units followed quickly by an upgrade to a 4th Alarm for tenders only. The 5th Alarm was requested later and then Interdivisional Alarms for a Tender task Force from neighboring Divisions 2 and 5. The previous alarms (which specified tenders only) were later filled out for the suppression companies which brought more personnel to the scene. Four counties were represented at this incident which included units from 6 MABAS Divisions.

The wind carried embers into the grass area behind the home igniting a prairie fire which spread to a large area near the electric transmission lines prompting a Special Alarm for brush fire assets.

Skokie (IL) firefighters responded to a house fire at 9163 Lincoln Avenue Wednesday morning at 11AM (4/1/15). Multiple Skokie companies were committed to EMS runs at the time. A header was visible to units responding, and a Box Alarm was requested prior to arrival, which brought assistance from Evanston, Wilmette, and Morton Grove in addition to companies for change of quarters.

Wednesday, 8163 Lincoln Ave. in Skokie (IL). A couple of interesting things here: response was compromised due to several ems calls occurring at  the time of the alarm. The normal first-due units were delayed and the eastside company (furthest away), was first to arrive. The IC realizing the delayed response ordered a box alarm before any units had arrived on the scene.

Also noted was a wheelchair lift built on the front of the home which caused a rapid search. All residents, some handicapped, were safely outside when I arrived. The fire seemed like it was going to heavily involve the attic and companies were withdrawn for a time, but the incident was well in hand in pretty short order.

Rolling Meadows (IL) companies were called to 5201 Carriageway Drive for a reported fire in a third floor apartment around 8PM Wednesday evening (3/4/15). While en-route, they were advised of a sofa on fire with flames climbing the wall, and Battalion 15 upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 for the working fire.

Police arriving on the scene reported flames shooting out of a third floor window, and that a resident had jumped from a third floor balcony. The alarm was then upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm.

When firefighters arrived, police officers were performing CPR on the victim who later died.

The alarm was subsequently upgraded to a 2nd Alarm and then a 3rd Alarm before being struck out shortly before midnight.
