Skokie (IL) firefighters responded to a house fire at 9163 Lincoln Avenue Wednesday morning at 11AM (4/1/15). Multiple Skokie companies were committed to EMS runs at the time. A header was visible to units responding, and a Box Alarm was requested prior to arrival, which brought assistance from Evanston, Wilmette, and Morton Grove in addition to companies for change of quarters.

Wednesday, 8163 Lincoln Ave. in Skokie (IL). A couple of interesting things here: response was compromised due to several ems calls occurring at the time of the alarm. The normal first-due units were delayed and the eastside company (furthest away), was first to arrive. The IC realizing the delayed response ordered a box alarm before any units had arrived on the scene.
Also noted was a wheelchair lift built on the front of the home which caused a rapid search. All residents, some handicapped, were safely outside when I arrived. The fire seemed like it was going to heavily involve the attic and companies were withdrawn for a time, but the incident was well in hand in pretty short order.
