Fire was in an occupied commercial building located at Pittsburg & Mason, right behind L-22. A Level 3 haz mat was called for blood borne pathogens located in the building.

There was apparently only one working aerial platform in the city of Detroit, so Highland Park came mutual aid with their working platform.

The fire remained at the Box Alarm level with a few extra engines and one extra ladder. In all, five engines, three ladders, one squad, one hazmat unit, several chief officers, and two medic units were at the scene.
