Shortly before three pm, Norwalk Fire responded to a fire in a store of a strip mall. Engine 3 arrived 1st due to find a mini-mart with heavy smoke showing. Companies attempted an interior attack, but were forced to retreat due to rapidly deteriorating conditions. They went defensive and set up multiple master streams and put tower ladders into operation. The fire spread to stores on exposure 1 and 4 sides before being brought under control within a few hours. Mutual aid from Stamford and Westport responded to the scene and covered the city. The cause of the fire is being investigated. No firefighters were hurt.
