The FDNY [responded t0] a seven-alarm fire at an East Village apartment building following an explosion Thursday afternoon that left at least twelve people injured, at least three in critical condition and another in serious condition according to officials.
The collapse happened at a 5-story mixed-occupancy building on Second Avenue and East 7th Street. The explosion possibly happened in a first floor business, and spread to the apartments above. A neighboring building was also on fire.
