At approximately 0300 hrs on 26 February, 2016 units from the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company in Baltimore County, Maryland were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire on I83 Northbound near exit 36. Upon arrival, units found a well-involved, 53-foot commercial vehicle trailer with heavy fire showing from the rear. Crews determined that the trailer was fully-loaded with scrap commercial vehicle tires. The Hereford area of Baltimore County, being a rural water setting, brought about the need for multiple Tanker Strike Teams to be dispatched to the incident. This brought tankers from neighboring Carroll County, Harford County, and York County in Pennsylvania to the incident. Using water, foam, and a front end-loader provided by the State Highway Administration, the incident was brought under control in a few hours and units cleared after extensive overhaul was completed
