Chicago FD Truck 20

Chicago’s 19th Battalion had a working fire this morning (Sunday, 6/24) at 7241 S. Sangamon. The fire came in at 5:45 and Engine 54 landed a short time later with a fire on the first floor. I arrived just in time to catch companies washing down. While the rear attic window was being laddered, a mother pitbull and 5 of her puppies came charging out the back door. Thankfully, all were friendly and didn’t seem at all bothered by the work going on around them.

I was close to this fire at 6643 S. Racine on Saturday morning (3/14/15) and arrived just before the smoke began to dissipate.  The fire was venting from the “B” side and appeared to be on the first floor.  There were unconfirmed reports that a deceased individual was located after the fire was out.  There was no report on whether that individual was a fire victim or had died before the fire started.  No media reports had been given at the time of this being written.

Companies were dispatched to a still alarm Friday at 7115 s Sangamon. While enroute, Engine 54 advised the EFAO that they could see the header and they indeed had a fire. E-54 arrived and boxed it. They had heavy fire showing and had the sector 4 exposure going also. Here are some of my shots.

Engine Co. 54 was first in to 7115 S. Sangamon and found fire in a 2 1/2 story frame. They made entry into to the building while Truck Co. 20 did the ventilation and searches. No victims were found but the fire did spread a bit to 7117 S. Sangamon, also a 2 1/2 story frame. Engine Co. 54’s hydrant man did find a frozen hydrant which caused the chief to ask for the Still & Box alarm. Companies made a quick knock of the fire once a positive source of water was established.
