Prince Georges County Fire & EMS 4th and 6th Battalion units were toned out for the building fire in the Engineering Lab Building  on the University of Maryland campus on Monday.  First due units including Engine 812 (College Park), Truck 834 (Chillum-Adelphi), and Rescue Squad 814 (Berwyn Heights) located a small fire in one of the labs and knocked it quickly.  Units cleared smoke, checked for extension and performed overhaul.

PGFD HazMat units were briefly called to the scene since the fire was in a lab, but determined no hazardous materials mitigation was needed.  Units remained on the scene for approx. 2 hours.  Here are some apparatus and crew shots.

Cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction.  Working sprinklers were activated during the fire and helped to keep damage to a minimum.

Prince Georges County Fire Department companies were alerted to the structure fire box at the McDonalds on Baltimore Pike (Rt. 1) in College Park (MD) around 11:30 hours Thursday morning.  On arrival, firefighters had smoke showing with fire through the roof.  It appears that the fire started in a fryer unit and then extended into the building.

I arrived shortly after the bulk of fire was knocked and have some overhaul and apparatus shots.

Companies from Berwyn Heights, College Park, Hyattsville, Chillum-Adelphi (Bomberos de Langley Park), Riverdale Heights, Branchville, and Beltsville were on the scene, including the trifecta of Seagrave tiller trucks from Berwyn Heights, Hyattsville and Chillum-Adelphi.
