According to Illinois State Police, two tractor-trailer trucks collided with a bus carrying developmentally disabled passengers Tuesday afternoon on the Dan Ryan Expressway at South 95th Street.

38 special needs adults were on the bus traveling from the Pilsen neighborhood to Robbins, according to Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.

A red semi-truck lost control and ran off the roadway, striking a concrete wall, which caused the truck’s trailer filled with recycled paper to separate and strike the bus, police said.

The Chicago Fire Department activated an EMS Plan 2 for the crash.
