Kitchener, Ontario fire dispatch received multiple 911 calls for heavy black smoke coming from a business on Manitou Drive July 1, 2016. Firefighters knocked the roof fire down quickly. Photos were taken just after the fire was knocked down, approximately fifteen minutes into the call. The fire is under investigation. July 1 is Canada Day a national holiday, so there was no work being done on the roof that day. Box 690 provided rehab.

Kitchener, Ontario fire dispatch received multiple 911 calls for a house fire at 50 Breithaupt Street April 15, 2016 at 2:45. Responding firefighters could see a large glow enroute to the call. P2 arrived on scene reporting heavy fire in an attached garage with extension to two other homes. Twenty five firefighters worked two hours to knock the fire down. Two firefighters were slightly injured in a flashover on the second floor. Damage has been set at $500,000. The Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in to assist with the investigation. Kitchener Fire dispatch toned out Maryhill, Breslau, Conestogo, and St Jacobs March 26, 2016 at 21:30 for a dairy barn fire at 1025 Maryhill Road. Maryhill firefighters could see a glow in the sky as they responded to the hall. The barn is located approximately 1.5 miles from the Maryhill fire hall. The barn had just been filled with hay that afternoon. Maryhill arrived on scene reporting a fully-involved barn with serious exposures on three sides. There was a large driving shed on the E4 side, and a large L-shaped barn with 200 dairy cattle on the E1 and E2 side. A farm tractor parked beside the L-shaped barn was fully involved. Wind was blowing from the east towards the second barn. Port-a-tanks were set up and water was initially drawn from two reservoirs in Maryhill and a hydrant in Breslau six miles from the scene. Firefighters were able to knock the tractor fire down quickly and cooled the exposures. Crews remained on scene until 08:00 tending to hot spots. Damage has been pegged at $500,000. Forty five dairy cows were lost in the blaze. Box 690 provide rehab for 5.5 hours.

Kitchener, Ontario firefighters were dispatched to smoke in the hallway of an apartment December 17 2015. Firefighters found a ground level apartment on fire after performing a 360. Police on scene reported there was a deceased tenant inside the apartment. Firefighters knocked the fire down quickly. Homicide detectives, Kitchener Fire Prevention, and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office are investigating the fire and suspicious death. This was the second fatal apartment fire in two days in Kitchener. Box 690 provided rehab.
