10/19/15 Detroit, MI – This vacant dwelling fire at 13495 Shields was started by a brand from the Sunset fire. The sustained winds turned this house into an inferno before companies arrived.
Video by Vito Maggiolo – DCFD 2nd Alarm at 3340 5th Street SE – Heavily involved two-story, detached frame house with packrat conditions. Elderly female was rescued from inside but died at hospital.
Detroit Box Alarm Edison and McQuade, four-flat dwelling. Firefighters from the 5th battalion had heavy fire throughout a four-flat dwelling fanned by thirty mph sustained winds.
04/29/15 Detroit, MI – Engine 33 had this fire three blocks from their quarters. They stretched on a dwelling with heavy fire on the first floor. The fire took about an hour to bring under control. Companies used multiple handlines, and Ladder 8’s aerial . Engine 33 dumped their monitor as well. The fire also extended to the attic of the number two exposure before being brought under control.
