11/08/15 Bridgeport, CT – East side companies were tied up on another box with a trash fire in an apartment complex. The responding companies could see smoke in the sky in the opposite as they turned out. Another box was transmitted for this job bringing companies from the other side of the city. The 1st Battalion arrived reporting a two and a half story, middle of the row, apartment complex with heavy fire throughout. Since companies had a longer response times, the fire gained considerable headway. Multiple lines were stretched and searches proved negative. Trucks opened up to find fire extending into the attic and into exposure 2a and 4a as companies continued with the interior attack. An additional engine and truck were special called. Firefighters were hampered venting due to a slate roof. Companies were eventually removed in order to allow the tower ladder to knockdown the heavy fire venting through the roof. The fire burned three units in this complex. No one was injured as a result of the blaze. Multiple people were left homeless. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
