SAFD || WORKING APARTMENT FIRE || 10.22.16 || At approx. 0858hr, crews from the 4th Battalion were toned out to a reported structure fire in the 4800 blk. of Gus Eckart Rd. Upon the arrival of Engine Co. and Platform Ladder Co. 32, crews were met with heavy fire and smoke billowing from the Charlie (rear) side on the first floor. A working fire was declared brining in the field safety officer, shift commander, and an additional medic as requested.
The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and crews checked for extension and with salvage and overhaul for well over two hours. Three people were injured when they had to jump from their balconies to escape the heat and flames. One of the injured occupants was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Companies on the box were EN32, EN37, EN42, EN51, PL32, PL51, TK37, HR51, M32, M26, BC04, HRBC, EMS0?, FSO, and SC1. A mobile air compressor unit and Brush 42 also were on scene.
