New Hamburg, Ontario firefighters were dispatched to an automatic alarm at Forest Glen School July 13, 2016 at 5:15. Two attached portables at the rear of the school were on fire, prompting command to request a full response from Baden to the scene. The bulk of the fire was knocked down quickly but firefighters spent five hours rotating two attack teams on air to pull the siding, interior walls, flooring and ceiling apart to get to hot spots. New Dundee was requested to the scene at 6:30 for additional manpower. This was the second serious suspicious fire in four days in New Hamburg. The Ontario Fire Marshal and Regional Detectives are investigating the fire. Box 690 provided rehab for the 40 firefighters on scene. Firefighters consumed 170 cold drinks at the fire.
