Chicago Still Alarm fire – February 7, 2015

I took in this still at 3259 S. Halsted (Chicago) at about 9:15 on Saturday morning (2/7/15). I arrived about 5 minutes too late and the fire was knocked pretty good by the time I walked down. The fire appeared to be mostly contained to the rear porches of a fairly large 3-story mixed occupancy. Engines 29 and 28 with Trucks 8 and 11. It was hard to get a good shot of 29 shooting into the sun.

I just returned from Arkansas. I brought back the rest of my dad’s fire collection and was surprised to find this. 5-11 and 4 Specials at 32nd Place & Bensen in Chicago. I remember dad took this in while I was at school, and I hadn’t seen this photo for many years. I believe the Snorkel setting up may have been SS-1. Most of the shots of this fire I have seen are black & white.

Chicago firefighters responded to Windy City Produce at 3340 N. Pulaski Road in the early morning hours of Monday, 4/20/15. They made an interior attack but were forced to withdraw and go defensive with master streams. The Snorkel from Squad 2 was in the alley and two tower ladders worked from the street.

House fire in the Township of Union (Manawa WI) – April 19, 2015

Manawa fire was paged early Sunday evening for a reported house fire at Highway 161, in the Township Of Union. Manawa was assisted by Bear Creek, Marion, Clintonville, and New London fire departments. No reports on the cause of the fire and there were no reported injuries at this time.
