Here are some images from a 2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago. There was a deep-seated fire in the basement of the 50×100 auto parts store. Even though the building was 200 feet south of Engine 49’s house, the heavy fire load in the basement prompted a defensive attack early on.

On 10/1/22, the Cicero Fire Department in Illinois received numerous calls for a structure fire @ 35th Street & 55th Ct. Cicero Engine 3, which is stationed two blocks away, arrived to find heavy fire showing from the rear of a 2.5-sty, wood frame, with a garage and a coach house going also. Chief F12 boxed it on arrival. Engine 3 led out 3 lines right away, while Engine 1 led out a 2.5″ to the alley and knocked the main bulk of the fire. Stickney & Lyons engines dropped 2.5” lines into the gangways to protect the exposures. In all, there were 6 lines working and Truck 1’s aerial master stream. Addresses affected were 3501, 3503, & 3505 S 55th Court. Crews made a great stop to what was an already well advanced fire.

A Des Plaines (IL) firefighter working in the fire prevention bureau spotted smoke from the eaves of a house 9/26/22 just before 2PM. After speaking with individuals outside the home, he called dispatch to report the house fire. He then entered the home to convince two people to evacuate and subsequently reentered to complete a secondary search.
The origin of the fire was believed to be a second story bathroom, but the entire second floor attic space of the split-level home was involved when suppression companies arrived.
