Chicago fire trucks at fire scene

Back on the 2nd, in the 7300 block of Ibsen on the far northwest side. This was one in a string of workers in a normally very quiet area. Reported as going through the roof when I left the house, but it was pretty much done when I arrived. Basically a 1 line fire but they did wind up with 3 engines. All 3 dropped hose but only 110 actually charged the line.
Interesting to note that due to all the training, Engine 110 was at a change of quarters at Engine 119 and therefore first due at this job. Truck 55 was very aggressive placing the aerial and did a good job to “thread the needle” between all the trees. Squad 7 still with the Chicago Fire spare squad. All in all seemed like this was a very well handled job.

Took in this job a few days ago. Not much to see firewise but a couple of interesting things. The building was in horrendous shape..several parts of the roof were collapsed (prior to fire) and access was very limited at best. Ironically this was not classed as a red x building. I was able to get some video and photos of a Chicago stripping ladder in use as a battering ram to knock out the plywood window coverings. This is a great tool and pretty unique to Chicago…seldom used for climbing but primarily used to pull up roofing materials during ventilation.. Class A foam was also used at this alarm as well. The squad had a spare snorkel but some decent rig shots were available.

More photos and audio from the 3-11 Alarm fire at 2525 W 25th St.
Here are some shots from the 3-11 Alarm fire at 2525 W 25th St overnight. Fire was in a 30×100 red-X commercial building, fully-involved, as well as the adjacent pallet yard including a couple of trucks.

Here are some images from a 2-11 alarm fire early Sunday morning, July 29th. This fire was literally a half block south of Engine 109’s house on Kedzie. A few months back, Engine 109 had an extra-alarm fire directly across from their quarters. This morning’s fire was in an auto repair shop which was a newly constructed two-story in the front connected to an old truss roof one-story in the rear. The total building size was about 40×100 but the fire was contained primarily to the rear section which was 40×25. Five handlines were used in the alley along with one that was brought up Truck 32 to the roof of a neighboring building to the north. One multi-versal was used through the front overhead door and Tower Ladder 5 was put to work on Kedzie. Images seen here were taken approximately 35 minutes in. All four box engines were pumping with 99 in the alley, 109 in sector A, 107 to the south on Kedzie and 38 in front of 109’s quarters which was kind of odd to see.
