Holyoke, MA had this 3rd alarm fire at 115 Elm St on 6/16/14 @0400. I arrived about 2 hours into the fire. Eighty residents were displaced by the fire. Mutual aid assisted at the scene and covered HFD stations.
Manchester, Ct had this 2nd alarm at 80 Fairfield St on 4/30/14 @0025 hrs. The fire was in the end unit of a 4 family house. The fire traveled the walls to the attic before being knocked down. Mutual aid from the 8th District and East Hartford assisted at the scene.
Colchester, Ct had this 2nd alarm on arrival at O’Connell Rd. & Taylor Rd. for heavy fire on floor #2 and the attic. Many mutual aid depts assisted with water and RIT. Two members were injured with one member being transported to the hospital.
On 3/20/14 about 1240 hours South Coventry FD (CT) members arrived at 88 Prospect St to heavy fire showing from the front and rear of a 2 1/2 story wood frame. The house was at the dead end of the street which made apparatus access limited. Mutual aid from North Coventry, Uconn, Mansfield, Tolland, Columbia, Andover, Bolton, and many others assisted at the scene or covered stations in Tolland County.
On 3/9/14 near 1500 hours the 8th District FD (Manchester, Ct) was dispatched to 39 Buckland St. for numerous calls reporting a structure fire in an apartment building. The 2nd alarm was struck as companies were still blocks away due to the smoke condition they drove through. Companies arrived to find fire venting out the rear of this 3-story (2 floors in front, 3 in the rear) wood frame apartment building with people evacuating. Mutual aid for another ladder company was requested on arrival. Once the tower ladder was put to work the fire was knocked down quickly. MFRE Truck 2, Engine 5, Car 22 and Vernon ET-241 assisted at the scene with other departments covering the stations.
Bolton, Ct responded to 31 Clark Rd at 1211 hours on 2/12/14 for a possible structure fire. Members found fire in the wall behind the brickwork of the fireplace. The walls were opened and the fireplace was taken apart so the fire could be located and extinguished. Automatic mutual aid from Andover, Hebron and Manchester 8th district FD assisted at the scene.
