I took in a fire at 6454 S. Wolcott Tuesday morning (12/24/19). Engine 101 arrived with a 2.5 sty frame with fire in the attic. Companies had forcible entry problems due to it being all boarded up. Companies knocked down the bulk of the fire from the outside and then went it to mop up. Both 101 and 116 were lead out and Truck 41 had their main to the roof.

The Chicago Fire Department’s 6th Battalion had a fatal still and box alarm this morning (12/28) on the 1900 Block of West 48th Pl. The alarm came in after 4:00 am. Here are some quick images from the scene. Eric Haak

Chicago had a still & box alarm fire in the 18th Battalion Sunday morning (12/15). The fire was at 4441 W Monroe and was in a vacant 2-story ordinary. The fire made it into the cockloft and a line was eventually stretched to the roof in order to finish the job. Eric Haak

Chicago had a working fire on the northwest side Sunday morning (12/1/19) @ 2230 N Narragansett. Engine Co. 125 had a fire in the walls and attic in a 1.5 sty frame house. Two lines were lead out during the fire. Truck 53 and Squad 2 cut numerous holes in the roof. Looked to be a real labor intensive fire.  Engine 125 is still in a spare engine after their crash many months ago. I hear that they are going to get their regular assigned E-One back in the coming week or so.

Rundown: Engines 125 – 68, Trucks 53 – 58, Battalion 8, WRKF – RIT Battalion 7, RIT Truck 57, Squad 2, 2-7-2

Here are a few images from an early morning Still & Box at 728 N Lotus Ave in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. Fire through the roof of a vacant 2.5 story frame. Four total lines were led out, E96 utilized their deck gun, and TL23 employed an aerial master stream. Photography was greatly hampered by a mix of sleet and thick brush on the property. I included a combination of natural light as well as flash photos so viewers can see the effect of a camera-mounted flash in rain/sleet/snow. Interesting to note this fire came in as many companies (including TL14) were still committed at a 2-11, 1644 N Spaulding Ave. A full gallery with more images will be live on Friday on our site
