Firefighters in Northbrook, IL and many mutual aid companies battled fire in three houses just before dawn on Wednesday (1/16/19). There was an apparent explosion in one house and fire communicated to homes on either side. One was almost completely gutted and the house upwind sustained moderate damage.

On 1/12/2019, the Manchester Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on Tarrytown Road. First-due companies had heavy fire in the attic of an abandoned building and companies were ordered into a defensive operation. The building eventually became well-involved and an additional engine company was dispatched to the scene.  Firefighters knocked the bulk of the fire downing about 30 minutes.

On 1/9/2019, Boston Fire Alarm struck a box for a reported fire on an MBTA train on Widett Circle. First-due companies had smoke showing and found a fire in a compartment. Before companies could use dry chem on the fire, command requested all southbound train traffic stopped so members could cross the tracks. The fire was quickly knocked down after traffic was stopped.

Chicago Fatal 2-11 Apartment Fire: At about ten minutes to 9:00 this morning, Chicago’s Main Fire Alarm Office gave a working fire response followed by a Still & Box Alarm to Hutchinson and Cicero. The fire was in a third floor apartment that was part of a 3-story, U-shaped courtyard building. The fire extended into the cockloft and was elevated to a 2-11. Shortly afterward the fire was brought under control. Unfortunately, there was a fatality with this incident.

A house at 3904 N Pitzen Road in Johnsburg, IL was destroyed by fire Sunday (1/6/19). The incident was elevated to a 4-Alarm fire by the McHenry Township FPD.
