The temperature was -6 with a -25 wind chill when this fire came in about 6:45 New Year’s Day. The home was heavily involved when the first company landed and frozen hydrants prompted a still and box alarm shortly after the arrival of the 15th Battalion chief. The structure was located near the intersection of 47th Street and Western Avenue in Chicago. 15 people were displaced. Eric Haak
The Bridgeview Fire Department (IL) had a box alarm at 8356 S. 78th Ave on 12/28. Companies landed on scene around 10:20 in the morning and had fire and smoke showing. Companies went defensive a little over 10 minutes after arrival. Eric Haak
A quick moving fire in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood awoke residents just before 6:30 Christmas morning. The fire at 104th Place and State Street quickly consumed the attic and second floor of the 2-story frame apartment building. Upon his arrival, the chief of the 22nd battalion reported that he had heavy fire on the second floor and requested a still and box. Companies were met with two frozen hydrants along State Street and had to work to secure a water source which prompted the 2-11. The building was occupied and all residents did escape the fire. The B-side exposure was heavily damaged as well. Eric Haak
Here are a few quick images from an alley garage fire at 5955 S. Throop in Chicago this morning (12/24). Engine 84 used their deck gun which knocked most of it out. A line was then stretched to mop up. Whole thing was done in minutes. Happy Holidays too all and especially to those who have to work the next couple of days away from family. Eric Haak
