Montgomery County Fire & Rescue 3rd and 4th battalion units were toned out for the Building Fire on Friday at the Burger King on Darnestown Road.  Firefighters arrived to find fire and smoke showing from the entrance of the restaurant and made a quick interior and exterior attack.  A tower ladder and tiller were established on adjacent sides of the building, and firefighters opened up the roofing area around the entrance-way using ground ladders, chain saws and Halligan tools.  Firefighters applied foam to the roofing to knock down remaining hot spots.

Units from Rockville, Kensington, Germantown, along with the Mobile Air Unit responded.  The fire was under control within minutes of arrival with overhaul taking approx. 45 min to complete.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue units from Bethesda and Silver Spring responded to the building fire in downtown Bethesda on Tuesday evening.  Units arrived to find a smoke haze on the penthouse level.  Truck companies provided ventilation and Rescue 1 (Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad 741) did a search and investigation of the building floors.  The issue was determined to be a malfunctioning HVAC unit.

Here are some apparatus shots and crew pickup including Truck 706 with their extended aerial ladder to the building.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue units responded to the Haz-Mat incident in Rockville, MD Tuesday morning.  Hydraulic oil in an elevator shaft/unit burned causing fumes to spread through two office buildings.  Approximately 30 of the building’s occupants felt ill due to the fumes, and the incident was upgraded to a mass-casualty event.

Haz-Mat units 728 and 707 were both on the scene to provide haz-mat mitigation.  Rescue Squad 703, multiple engine and truck companies from Rockville and Gaithersburg, and the Medical Care Support Unit responded.  The Medical Ambulance Bus was used to transport patients to a local hospital.  Gaithersburg/Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department Canteen 708 provided refreshments and hydration for the firefighters, office complex staff, and patients.

Prince Georges County Fire Department (PGFD) and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue (MCFRS) were alerted for the house fire on Broad Blvd. in Beltsville, MD on Friday morning.  Firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire showing from a bedroom window(s) of a one-story SFH.  Occupants of the house escaped after being alerted by smoke alarms, and firefighters rescued two dogs that had become lethargic and disoriented inside the home due to the smoke.  The dogs were given oxygen and recovered quickly from smoke inhalation.  Companies from Burtonsville, Calverton, Berwyn Heights, and Laurel were on the scene and worked hard to knock this fire down quickly.

PGFD has posted a detailed write-up of the incident here:  http://pgfdpio.blogspot.com/
