At approximately 1100 hours on June 20, 2014, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue first battalion units were alerted to the house fire on Dunoon Road just off of New Hampshire Ave. in the community of Hillandale. Rescue Squad 2, Rescue Squad 715, Trucks 716 and 719, Engines 716, 724, Reserve Engine 3, Prince Georges County Engine 841 (Calverton) and additional units responded, arriving to find smoke showing from the roof of a ranch style house.
Firefighters had the fire confined to an attic space and knocked quickly. By the time I arrived they had started the overhaul process. Battalion Chief 701 had command.
Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services responded to a power outage with wires down yesterday morning in Chevy Chase. The incident area was cordoned off due to the live wires arcing & catching fire. I took these apparatus shots of Truck 706 and Engine 706 staging outside of the hot zone. As you can see the tillered trucks have to navigate some narrow and winding streets here in Chevy Chase Village and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Tuesday morning, June 3, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were alerted to the HazMat Box on Rockville Pike at the Forum Apartments. Investigation showed high CO levels on multiple floors. The building was evacuated and EMS evaluated residents. No injuries were reported. HazMat crews performed ventilation and identified a malfunctioning water heater as the source of the CO. The incident was declared under control by the time I arrived.
Here are some apparatus shots.
