While on “patrol” in Detroit, we found a job at Gratiot and Seminole. We arrived to find a rapidly spreading fire involving two dwellings and it had not been reported. We were with the Detroit photo guy so he was able to report it directly to Central immediately by radio.  We observed all the operations from pre-arrival to collapse. They pretty much considered this a let-it-burn job but there were several occupied exposures nearby that were well covered. The tower ladder was primarily a water curtain for radiant heat until the buildings collapsed, then used for overhaul. This was a spectacular event to witness and I was able to get an assortment of some nice images.

10/19/15 Detroit, MI – Firefighters arrived at 13134 Sunset to find a vacant dwelling with fire showing. This dwelling quickly became well involved. The wind driven fire produced large brands which quickly caught two vacant dwellings on Shields St. The brands also started a garage fire to the rear of this address as well as a dumpster fire against a commercial building on E. Davidson.

Here are some images of a Box Alarm in Detroit on August 21st.  This was on Wanda Street between Louisiana and Nevada.  Companies were defensive on arrival.  The neat thing about this is that Engine 56 was only about 4 hours old at this point.  They had taken delivery of their new rig earlier in the afternoon and this was it’s first fire.  They did use their deck gun for a short period of time.

07/06/15 Detroit, MI – East side companies found this three-story, wood-frame at 8304 St. Cyrill vacant going throughout. Companies went offensive due to the close proximity of a similar sized number two exposure. Engines 46 and 50 both dumped their monitors as companies deployed hand lines.
