5016 2ND STREET N.W.

October 7, 2016: Story & Photos By Elliot J Goodman

Friday afternoon October 7th, DC Firefighters were dispatched to 5016 2nd St. N.W. with multiple calls reporting a building fire.

Units shortly arrived in the front with smoke showing from the eaves of a two story apartment building. E-14 arrived in the rear and had fire showing.

The fire had extended from the basement all the way to the roof. The building apparently vacant was in deplorable condition and companies making an initial interior attack and search used extreme caution.

As the fire progressed , a Second Alarm was requested and the fire was brought under control shortly there after.

325 Sherman Avenue in Evanston, IL (10/10/16). Pretty much done when I finally got in there. Looked like a good inside truck work job. Note the images of the Skokie tower … this is soon to be replaced by a new rig. The last image is a panorama.

Thursday afternoon, (10-6-16), Bedford Park FD (IL) arrived @ 6650 s Oak Park Ave to find smoke showing from a 2-sty commercial building. First engines lead out lines, while Tower 709 and Truck 31 threw their mains to the roof. Companies encountered heavy smoke inside the building which housed a recycling center. Multiple handlines were used to extinguish the fire. Mabas 10 MVU was utilized at the end of the incident to clear the smoke out of the building.
