A woman was injured and two cats died in a mobile home fire in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on Monday, March 30th.
Shortly after 5 PM, the Sheboygan Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in the Indian Meadows Trailer Park. The home was fully-involved by the time firefighters arrived. An adjacent unit also sustained damage when that trailer’s siding and porch caught fire.
According to Battalion Chief Gary Kolberg, a female resident of the home sustained 1st and 2nd degree burns. The home was a total loss.
Here are some photos of the 2nd Alarm Brush fire in Homer Glenn on Monday (3/30/15). I made it about 10 minutes after the 2nd alarm and by then they had it under control, but it looked like they had a couple acres going at one point.
Hartford, Ct had this 2nd alarm on 4/2/15 at 1363 Main St. Fire was in a vacant four-story brick. Even though it was a vacant, Ladder 3 members rescued one person via ground ladder on their arrival.
Skokie (IL) firefighters responded to a house fire at 9163 Lincoln Avenue Wednesday morning at 11AM (4/1/15). Multiple Skokie companies were committed to EMS runs at the time. A header was visible to units responding, and a Box Alarm was requested prior to arrival, which brought assistance from Evanston, Wilmette, and Morton Grove in addition to companies for change of quarters.

Wednesday, 8163 Lincoln Ave. in Skokie (IL). A couple of interesting things here: response was compromised due to several ems calls occurring at the time of the alarm. The normal first-due units were delayed and the eastside company (furthest away), was first to arrive. The IC realizing the delayed response ordered a box alarm before any units had arrived on the scene.
Also noted was a wheelchair lift built on the front of the home which caused a rapid search. All residents, some handicapped, were safely outside when I arrived. The fire seemed like it was going to heavily involve the attic and companies were withdrawn for a time, but the incident was well in hand in pretty short order.
Montgomery County, NIST, Howard County, Carroll County, and Frederick County units responded to a 50+ acre brush and woods fire on Tuesday (3/31/15) near Damascus Road in Laytonsville, MD. Wind hampered initial efforts to contain the blaze, but firefighters worked hard to gain control and surround the fire preventing it from spreading further. Multiple brush trucks, engine tankers, large capacity tankers, and assorted other apparatus including forestry trucks and tractors worked in tandem on the scene. Company 717 (Laytonsville) worked all of their first line units on the fireground. Fill & dump sites for tankers were established and the brush units filled up at these water supply areas, and then proceeded into the fire zone.
Here are some photos I took from the Halterman Road water supply zone, established in a neighboring farm/cornfield, adjacent to the fire zone.
Hartford, Ct Ladder 3 struck a 2nd alarm on arrival for heavy fire showing from the rear of an occupied 3-story brick building. Members made a very aggressive interior attack and were able to knock the fire down in a short period of time. More pictures at www.squadfirephotos.com
